Friday, June 14, 12:00pm: Lunch Bunch in Lake Worth at Mario's Lake Ave., 707 Lake Ave unit B, Lake Worth Beach. Great Italian food at the popular Mario's in downtown Lake Worth. A favorite for some years now, with all the standard dishes like penne alla vodka, lasagna, eggplant rollatini, shrimp scampi, as well as grilled salmon and other tasty choices. And then there's the caramel cheesecake as well. Please RSVP on Meetup or to Amy Shaughnessy at aesdth@yahoo.com or at 561-352-9245

A favorite spot in the summer on the Lake Worth Golf Course with great views and summer breezes, this location is a little gem. Typical American cuisine obviously catering to golfers mainly, burgers, fish sandwiches, salads, appetizers, lemony and fruity drinks. RSVP to Elissa (elissa12@bellsouth.net) or on Meetup by noon on June 15.

Thursday, June 20, 6pm: Virtual Happy Hour to Discuss Books. At our May meeting we discussed Misbelief: What Makes Rational People Believe Irrational Things, by Dan Ariely), The Passenger, by Patrick A. Davis, and You Dreamed of Empires, by Alvero Enrigue, as well as several other books. In fact, the discussion led us to consider the nature of our Zoom meetings. We don't have the set structure of standard Book Clubs, or rules for how the meeting is conducted. We bring into the conversation other books besides the ones we prepared for, compare previous selections, proposing a range of works. In fact, we're really more like a Literary Society. And that is now our new name. For June, we have selected Baumgartner, by Paul Austen (proposed by Ed), Hamnet, by Maggie O'Farrell (proposed by Kelton), Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, by John Berendt, and Eligible, by Curtis Sittenfeld (both proposed by Amy), and In Ascension, by Martin MacInnes (proposed by Elissa). Meeting ID: 858 0295 0276, Passcode: happy (Zoom link). RSVP on Meetup or to Amy Shaughnessy at aesdth@yahoo.com or at 561-352-9245. (Also see article on p. 4.)

A casual restaurant with bright tropical murals in an unassuming location at Hypoluxo and Lawrence Roads. They boast the freshest and finest ingredients for their Thai and sushi specialties, e.g., pad Thai, gyoza, Tom Yum shrimp soup, papaya salad, basil fried rice, as well as poke bowls and bento boxes.
