Thursday, May 9 at 5:30pm: Happy Hour at The Venu Restaurant and Bar, 8794 W Boynton Beach Blvd #101, Boynton Beach. An up-scale food and entertainment venue in western Boynton Beach, just east of Lyons Road. The Happy Hour is 5:00-7:00, with discounted drinks and half-off appetizers. They take pride in locally sourced food, made from scratch in their kitchens. Glitzy decor with live music and entertainment on selected evenings. RSVP by May 8 to Amy on MeetUp or at 561-964-3283.

Sunday, May 12 at 5:30pm: Second Sunday Dinner at Ocean 1 Grille in Delray Beach, 561-270-7373 (http://www.ocean1grille.com/pos/register/WEBTEMP.ASP), 777 East Atlantic Ave. in the Atlantic Plaza. Three for one cocktails, all day every day, American cuisine (brief glance at menu: Cashew Salmon with broccoli wontons; Cajun chicken alfredo, with orecciette pasta, Cajun cream sauce, etc.). RSVP by Saturday noon to elissa12@bellsouth.net or on MeetUp.

Friday, May 17 at noon: Lunch Bunch at Makeb's Bagels, 401 S Olive Ave, West Palm Beach. A real NYC-style deli in downtown West Palm Beach. They make bagels in-house from scratch, with no preservatives, but this is no mere bagel shop. Makeb's does it all, with club sandwiches ($7.50-7.99), gourmet sandwiches with side salads or french fries, burgers, and western omelettes. The juice bar has choices from simple to exotic. RSVP by May 16 to Amy on MeetUp or at 561-964-3283.

Tuesday, May 21 at 6pm: Movable Feast at Enigma Bistro, 2717 N Federal Hwy, Delray Beach. A unique cuisine, the product of the owners - Nas, from Brazil, and Adita, from Cuba. The entrees range from seafood paella and fresh local fish, through pasta dishes, to Cuban skirt steak and lechon asado (prices between $16 and $23; most $17-$19). And the caramel flan is highly recommended! The location is in the northern reaches of Delray, just south of Johnny Mango's; parking on site. RSVP by May 20 to Amy on MeetUp or 561-964-3283.

Wednesday, May 29 at 5:30pm: Happy Hour at Lou's Bar & Grill, 236 S US-1, Tequesta; farther north than my usual; I hope it will appeal to those in our northern counties. The emphasis here is on fresh ingredients, freshly prepared. The Happy Hour is 4:30 to 6:00, with $7 house spirits and cocktails and $5 house wines and draft beers - quite an array in all categories. Food features hummus, eggplant rollatini, flatbreads, calamari - and they encourage staying for dinner with a full range of pastas, meat and seafood. RSVP to Amy by May 28 on MeetUp or at 561-964-3283.
