FIRST FRIDAY at Payathai restaurant in the shopping mall/center at the northwest corner of Lantana Rd. and Congress Ave. If you enter the shopping center from the Lantana Rd. entrance Payathai is about 10 stores down on the right. Sunday, May 4. Mensa Outdoor - Our five-mile leisurely walk on the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk. 9:00 AM starting time. This is a leisurely walk starting from the Johnson Street bandstand and going north to the white condominium apartment building bordering Dania Beach. For the real hardy, they can continue the walk up to the Dania Beach Pier, another half mile each way. Afterward, brunch at the very reasonable Ocean Alley restaurant on the ocean. Sunday, May 18. Mensa Outdoor - - Kayak the Loxahatchee River in Riverbend Park in Jupiter. We will go south and explore the new area recently opened to the public. Meeting point is Canoe Outfitters on Indiantown Road. Total paddling time about 3-4 hours. Go for lunch locally afterward. Cost $40.00 for Members, $45.00 Non-Members. This member recommended location is in a standalone building in the shopping center on the northwest corner of Pine Island and Sunrise at 1895 North Pine Island Road in Plantation in the Jacaranda Square shopping center. Saturday, May 24, 10 am. Fourth Saturday Fun - Young Mensan Activities @ Young at Art Childrens Museum, Davie. A unique, hands-on children's museum. Enter a new dimension of learning and creativity by touching, exploring, creating, Permanent Exhibits include ""Global Village,"" ""Earthworks"" and "Kenny's Closet". The Museum is at 1184 State Road 84, on the south side between Flamingo Rd and Hiatus in "The Plaza". Admission is $8 per person. We will meet by the front door. Look for the Mensa Sign. Saturday - Monday, May 24-26. Mensa Outdoor - Memorial Day Weekend. Camping in Ocala Forest. We will choose one of the springs to camp at, perhaps Blue Spring (fantastic place) or Silver River State Park (another great place). Group Dinner on night, and go out for dinner locally the other night. Everyone brings their lunches and breakfasts. Choices of kayaking, canoeing, bicycling, snorkeling, hiking. We break camp Monday and leave for home individually. Cost for 2 nights of camping and OAK-provided dinner one night is $30.00/Member, $35.00/Non-Member, and ˝ price for kids <12. This is the fifth time we're going to Ocala, and each time it has been something special. We expect this time to be special as well. OAK's Tricia Whitman is preparing dinner, and for those who were on the moonlight Shark Valley Bicycle Ride or camped last Memorial Day, and/or who heard about it, you know you can expect something extra-special from Tricia.
