Palm Beach County Mensa Calendar of Events
January, 2008

Mensa events are open to all Mensans, their spouses, children and guests. Who may or may not attend a private home is at the host's discretion. Hosts: Please mention any special concerns about your location, such as smoking restrictions, limited access for the handicapped, or presence of pets. Guests: If you have any special needs or restrictions, please check with your host before attending an event.

Notice! Our group has merged its calendar with the one from the Broward group and some events from Miami. The icon in the rightmost column of the event indicates what group(s) are hosting that activity (B for Broward, M for Miami, P for Palm Beach County). See the legends at the bottom of this page for an explanation of other icons that may appear in this column. Most phone numbers for Broward events will be area code 954, for Miami, 305.

	Thursday, January 3, 7:00 pm. 1ST THURSDAY PUB NIGHT EAST. Bennigan's on Cypress Creek Road (just west of I-95, north side). For further information call Jason Knight, 954-969-0683.
	Saturday, January 5. First Saturday (of the Year) Party - Come help Micki Hawn start the New Year in her new Coral Springs condo. It's been a long time coming, but now we're here. Celebrate a good time and good conversation. In lieu of a housewarming gesture, bring a cash donation for the Broward Mensa treasury. Party food and soft drinks will be provided. 	Saturday-Sunday, January 5-6. Family Camping at Flamingo Park in Everglades National Park. A wide open area on the Florida Bay with hiking trails next to ponds and bicycle trails through the length of the Park. About 1 ½ to 2-hours ride from Fort Lauderdale. Because there's no electricity, there will be a group dinner on Saturday night. Cost will be $30.00 per Member, $5.00 more for non-Member, and kids <12 half price. 	Friday, January 11, 7:00 pm. FIRST FRIDAY at Payathai restaurant in the shopping mall/center at the northwest corner of Lantana Rd. and Congress Ave. If you enter the shopping center from the Lantana Rd. entrance Payathai is about 10 stores down on the right. The restaurant is to the left of a pool hall. REPLY TO: Barry Karas 561 964-4360 or bkaras@adelphia.net. While reservations are not technically necessary your RSVPs will enable the restaurant to arrange for special seating/tables, etc.
	Thursday, January 17, 7:00 pm. 3RD THURSDAY PUB NIGHT WEST. Bahama Breeze at Sawgrass Mills Mall (north), near the Target store's parking. For further information call Jason Knight, 954-969-0683.
	Friday-Sunday, January 18-21. Smarti Gras 2008 in Orlando at the Renaissance Hotel near the airport. The form is available on the region 10 website (region10.us.mensa.org)
	Sunday, January 20, 10 AM. Sunday Brunch at Golden Coral Buffet & Grill, 2100 Atlantic Blvd. There is nothing like the Golden Corral for your classic All U Can Eat. We will be arriving at the point between breakfast and lunch for the best of both worlds. All of your regular breakfast foods like pancakes, omelets, ham, bacon, sausage, potatoes, THEN salads, entrees, desserts, and grilled steaks, all for a very reasonable price. This location is on the south side, about 0.7 miles west of I-95 just before the Wal-Mart shopping center on Atlantic and Powerline. RSVP to Micki at 954-345-1688.
