Saturday-Sunday, December 1-2. Mensa Outdoor - Camp at the Dupuis Preserve along Indiantown Road outside Indiantown. This is semi-primitive camping in that you bring your own water and there is no electricity available. You carry everything you need in your car and it's a short haul to the campsite. This is NOT a back-pack. It is a BYO for all meals. The main activity will be hiking the Preserve and discovering new camp sites and the various trails. This is a leisurely walk starting from the Johnson Street bandstand and going north to the white condominium apartment building bordering Dania Beach.  Afterward, brunch at the Ocean Alley or, If they're too full, Capone's on A1A, about a block south. Saturday, December 29, 10 am. Fourth Saturday Fun. Young Mensan Activities @ Jungle Island. There are three 20 minute formal show and opportunities to feed birds and fish, interact with trainers and animals and take photos with exotic and rare animals. Adult admission is $27.95 plus tax, children (ages 3-10) are $22.95 plus tax. Jungle Island is located at 1111 Parrot Jungle Trail, off 395, between downtown Miami and South Beach. Saturday-Monday, December 29 - January 1. Mensa Outdoor - Backpack into the primitive areas of Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Jupiter. About 4 miles over easy terrain, the camp sites have a compost toilet, filterable water from a pump, and a fire ring. OAK supplies the Saturday night dinner, filters, cooking gear, and can lend tents, etc. A nice hiking path leads to nowhere. A wonderful way to spend New Year's Eve outdoors. Cost is $20.00 Per Member, $25.00 per Non-Member, and kids under 12 no cost. Car-pooling and breakfast will be determined before the Outing. Remember you can borrow backpacks, light-weight 2-person backpacking tent, soft cooler, mattress, sleeping bag (has to be cleaned before being returned). Leader Jordan London.
