Palm Beach County Mensa Calendar of Events

Mensa events are open to all Mensans, their spouses, children and guests. Who may or may not attend a private home is at the host's discretion. Hosts: Please mention any special concerns about your location, such as smoking restrictions, limited access for the handicapped, or presence of pets. Guests: If you have any special needs or restrictions, please check with your host before attending an event.

Notice! Our group has merged its calendar with the one from the Broward group and some events from Miami. The icon in the rightmost column of the event indicates what group(s) are hosting that activity (B for Broward, M for Miami, P for Palm Beach County). See the legends at the bottom of this page for an explanation of other icons that may appear in this column. Most phone numbers for Broward events will be area code 954, for Miami, 305.

	Wednesday, June 20. Turtle Walks - In June and July, Gumbo Limbo Nature Center in Boca Raton conducts Turtle Walks for the public. I have a limited number of reserved tickets for the evening of Wednesday, June 20, $5 each. Children must be over 8 years old & must know how to be quiet (same goes for adults). No matter what, the Gumbo Limbo guides make the evening a very special one when we all stop and realize our place in the universe is relatively new compared to the Loggerheads.

	Thursday, June 21, 6:00 pm. GenX -- A Pre Bonfire Event - Kahuna 'Awa Kava Bar, Ft. Lauderdale, is a place where positive energy is always welcomed with open arms. This place offers an escape from the all-consuming daily hustle and bustle. Here you can enjoy tasty kava tea prepared by hand in the traditional Fijian style while having good conversation in a relaxing environment. At 6 pm. Followed by GenX -- Summer Solstice Celebration, Bonfire, Drumming & More, begins at 7:30 pm. Primitive Camping Area at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, right off Ft. 	Sunday, June 24. Kayak the Loxahatchee River out of Jupiter. Go up to Trapper Nelson (fabulous home of a very private man of the 30's) and return to put-in point. The "Lox" is one of the U.S.A.'s "Natural Wild and Scenic" rivers, and a challenge. Five hrs. on water, and an OAK-supplied lunch at Trapper Nelson's. For the experienced kayaker. Cost $45. 	Saturday, June 30, 8:30 pm. Full Moon Drum Circle at 8:30 pm -- On Pompano Beach, in front of the Briny Pub. Hang out on the beach with friends old and new, bring your drums and your bellydance gear for a wonderful evening on the beach.
