Palm Beach County Mensa Calendar of Events

Mensa events are open to all Mensans, their spouses, children and guests. Who may or may not attend a private home is at the host's discretion. Hosts: Please mention any special concerns about your location, such as smoking restrictions, limited access for the handicapped, or presence of pets. Guests: If you have any special needs or restrictions, please check with your host before attending an event.

Notice! Our group has merged its calendar with the one from the Broward group and some events from Miami. The icon in the rightmost column of the event indicates what group(s) are hosting that activity (B for Broward, M for Miami, P for Palm Beach County). See the legends at the bottom of this page for an explanation of other icons that may appear in this column. Most phone numbers for Broward events will be area code 954, for Miami, 305.

	Saturday, February 3, 11:00 am. Serve as a Mensa Education and Research Foundation Scholarship judge. Read and score essays written by college students outlining goals. 	Sunday, February 4, 11:00 am. BREAKFAST ON HOLLYWOOD BEACH. Meet at La Brochette Grill (954-920-0033), a place that serves breakfast for $1.65 - 2 eggs, potatoes, toast (3 varieties). This allows you to sit outside and has a roof to protect diners from the sun and has a good sound system. Maybe you would like to walk on the beach afterwards? 	Saturday, February 17, 7:30 pm. Game and Favorite Quote night -- at the home of Brian & Judy Johnson in Jupiter Farms. Bring your favorite Quotation, no more than 100 words please, to read to our guests, and tell why its your favorite in 3 minutes or less. Bring your favorite game or play ours. 	Sunday, February 18. Bicycle Shark Valley during the day. Parking - $8.00 per vehicle. We ordinarily see 25-75 alligators along the trail while we bike.The Park rents bicycles for those who do not wish to bring their own.A 15-mile paved trail, with one break along the way, at the 7-mile mark, where there is a 65-foot-high tower overlooking all of the Everglades. Afterward, group lunch at either the BBQ Pit east of the park or Joanie's Blue Crab Restaurant west of the park. Leader Jordan London, 954-961-8286.

(Directions: from I-95 exit 101, go west on Kanner Hwy, SR-76 1/4 mile to Locks Road on the right. Go approximately 1 mile on Locks Road to Lake Tuscany subdivision on the left to Panther Trace. Upon entering subdivision, turn left and look for house on the left.) Bring your favorite game(s) (I only have a chess set), drink and snack. Some drinks and snacks that will be there for you. 	Saturday, February 24, 10 am. Fourth Saturday Fun - Young Mensan Activities. Welcome Young Mensans, Mensa families, young-at-heart Mensans, children of Mensans and interested friends 10 AM @ Boomers, Boca Raton - Boomers offers miniature golf, video arcade, children's play land (must wear socks), laser tag, rock climbing, bumper boats and go-carts. Exit I-95 at Glades Road and go east to the first light. Turn left onto Airport Road, Boomers will be on your right at 3100 Airport Road. Special Saturday pass is $24.95. Tokens are 20 for $10. We will meet by the ticket booth. Look for the Mensa Sign. RSVP to Micki Hawn at 954-345-1688. This is just over the County Line in Palm Beach County.
	Sat-Sun, February 24-25. Camp on the water at Cayo Costa in the Keys. Get there and back by ferry. OAK-supplies group dinner Saturday night. You can borrow a tent, mattresses, sleeping bags (which have to be cleaned before being returned), soft coolers. Outing cost $25.00 Per Member, $30.00 Per Non-member.
