Palm Beach County Mensa Calendar of Events
December, 2006
Mensa events are open to all Mensans, their spouses, children and guests. Who may or may not attend a private home is at the host's discretion. Hosts: Please mention any special concerns about your location, such as smoking restrictions, limited access for the handicapped, or presence of pets. Guests: If you have any special needs or restrictions, please check with your host before attending an event.
Notice! Our group has merged its calendar with the one from the Broward group and some events from Miami. The icon in the rightmost column of the event indicates what group(s) are hosting that activity (B for Broward, M for Miami, P for Palm Beach County). See the legends at the bottom of this page for an explanation of other icons that may appear in this column. Most phone numbers for Broward events will be area code 954, for Miami, 305.

Friday-Sunday, December 8-10. CAMP at the Highlands Hammock, one of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) accomplishments. This is a lovely area, outside of Sebring, about 2 hours out of Fort Lauderdale, and one of the favorite camp sites in that part of the country. It has nice hiking trails, bicycles for rent @ $2.00/hour, a lake for kayaking (about 4 miles down the road) and the museum of the CCC. OAK will provide its usual great Saturday night dinner. The cost will include one night or two nights, your choice. Cost $30.00 Per Member, kids under 18 are ½ price, kids under 6 no charge. Add $5.00 to Member price for non-members. Sunday, December 17. Bicycle from the Ann Kolb Nature Center in Hollywood up the Hollywood Beach boardwalk and into John U. Lloyd Park, and back again. Total round trip is about 12 miles, and rated easy. Should take maximum of two hours. We will have BYO lunch at the West Lake Park across the road from the Nature Center. Let's visit the Grand-daddy award winning All-You-Can-Eat Buffet. For kids' delight, make your own sundaes and a chocolate fountain have been added, in addition to the regular 100 item Asian buffet with soups, salads, desserts, entrees and a carving station.
