We leave from Indiantown Road outside of Jupiter and go up the Loxahatchee to have lunch at Trapper Nelson's, then we'll either go the rest of the way to the take-out in Jonathan Dickinson Park or do a return course, depending on the weather, current, and outfitter's ability to pick up at the take-out. We will have an OAK supplied lunch at Trapper Nelson's (now there's something to go for all by itself). Cost $50.00 per member, $55.00/non-member for singles; $35.00 per member for tandem, $40.00 per non-member, includes all accessories and lunch. Contact Jordan London, 954-961-8286.

Saturday, August 26, 2:30 pm. HAMBURGER SIG. Philadelphia has the cheese steak, New Orleans the Muffaletta, New York the hot dog, Boston the clam roll. I have noticed, in my travels of the Broward byways, that there are more independent or small chain hamburger joints here than anywhere else. We are not talking Mickey D's, BK or that girl with the pigtails. So, ketchup and we'll go on a quest for the perfect hamburger. The idea will be to find unique establishments that feature the hamburger; other dishes "might" be available, but I can't guarantee that. This second venture out will be Cheeburger Cheeburger. It is a relatively small chain, with 10 places in Broward, so lettuce try the one at 2010 N. Flamingo Road in Pembroke Pines. You can grill Ed Gordon at 954-540-1667 for details. 2:30 pm was picked so the places, generally small, should not be crowded, for we would be in a real pickle if that were to happen.

Sunday, August 27. SNORKEL, BISCAYNE UNDERWATER PARK IN HOMESTEAD. Our boat takes us out about 8 miles to some of the loveliest reefs, some only six feet deep. We've swum with various kinds of eels, nurse sharks, barracuda, gar, etc. There are many beautiful tropical-colored fish around, and it's just a great snorkeling environment. With the price of gas the way it is, and going up again in the summer, the cost is now $50.00/member, $55.00/non-member. We go out at 1:00 pm, and come back around 5:00 pm. Afterward, we'll go for dinner at the Golden Corral on U.S. 1 nearby. Contact Jordan London, 954-961-8286.
