Palm Beach County Mensa Calendar of Events

Mensa events are open to all Mensans, their spouses, children and guests. Who may or may not attend a private home is at the host's discretion. Hosts: Please mention any special concerns about your location, such as smoking restrictions, limited access for the handicapped, or presence of pets. Guests: If you have any special needs or restrictions, please check with your host before attending an event.

Notice! Our group has merged its calendar with the one from the Broward group and some events from Miami. The icon in the rightmost column of the event indicates what group(s) are hosting that activity (B for Broward, M for Miami, P for Palm Beach County). See the legends at the bottom of this page for an explanation of other icons that may appear in this column. Most phone numbers for Broward events will be area code 954, for Miami, 305.

	Saturday, July 8, 10:00 am. MENSA ADMISSIONS TESTING. Testing will be at the Sunrise Public Library/Dan Pearl Branch, 10500 W. 	Saturday, July 8. MENSA/OAK PARTY - NO $4.00 COVER FEE IF YOU BRING AN AMERICAN FLAG ON A POLE OR STICK WE CAN PUT IN THE FRONT YARD. It's the ever-popular Bring-A-Dish, with NO BARBECUE this month. Too darned hot, you know. We'll have some of your favorite games, plus the usual scintillating conversation - maybe even a debate or two. We'd love your company. Hostess is Ruby Allman, 954-961-7334.
	Sunday, July 9, 11:00 am. SUNDAY BRUNCH at TooJay's Deli, Coral Springs, 11:00 AM. This charming location at the Walk in Coral Springs, is more of a restaurant than a deli. The scrumptious deserts, salads and deli meats are on display, but we will take advantage of the friendly service and ample seating. Starters, salads, wraps, sandwiches, melts, burgers, classic combinations, fish, chicken and entrees. There's something here for everyone and at reasonable prices. The average cost of most menu items is about $7.00. That makes this an unbeatable combination- good food, friends, fun and it doesn't cost too much at TooJay's. 	Saturday, July 22, 2:30 pm. HAMBURGER SIG. Philadelphia has the cheese steak, New Orleans the Muffaletta, New York the hot dog, Boston the clam roll. I have noticed, in my travels of the Broward byways, that there are more independent or small chain hamburger joints here than anywhere else. We are not talking Mickey D's, BK or that girl with the pigtails. So, ketchup and we'll go on a quest for the perfect hamburger. The idea will be to find unique establishments that feature the hamburger; other dishes "might" be available, but I can't guarantee that. Our first venture out will be Johnny Rocket's at the Las Olas Riverfront 300 SW 1st Ave at 2:30 pm. You can grill me (Ed Gordon) at 954-540-1667 for details.
	Sunday, July 23. KAYAK AT WEST LAKE PARK - in Hollywood. We will start this Outing with a kayaking clinic and then go on the water for a few hours. Expect mangrove trails, a little open water, heat, some birding, and a wonderful lunch afterward, probably at Capone's on A1A on the Intracoastal.
