Palm Beach County Mensa Calendar of Events

Mensa events are open to all Mensans, their spouses, children and guests. Who may or may not attend a private home is at the host's discretion. Hosts: Please mention any special concerns about your location, such as smoking restrictions, limited access for the handicapped, or presence of pets. Guests: If you have any special needs or restrictions, please check with your host before attending an event.

Notice! Our group has merged its calendar with the one from the Broward group and some events from Miami. The icon in the rightmost column of the event indicates what group(s) are hosting that activity (B for Broward, M for Miami, P for Palm Beach County). See the legends at the bottom of this page for an explanation of other icons that may appear in this column. Most phone numbers for Broward events will be area code 954, for Miami, 305.

	Saturday, May 13. CANOE RELAY RACE AROUND THE CITY OF WILTON MANORS - We have 6 teams of paddlers for our group, each team paddling 1 mile, then relaying to the next team. We go around the city in the Middle River waterway. Afterward, a BBQ and beer party sponsored by the city of Wilton Manors held at the park across from the put-in point. 	Saturday, May 13. MENSA/OAK PARTY - It's May, some of us will have been paddling and picnicking during the day. Easy-on type of night. As always, good food (it's yours), great people, games if you want 'em. Your Bring A Dish tonight can be something to put on the barbie for grilling. $3.00 contribution per person, under 15 free, and Bring A Dish. You must RSVP at least 24 hours in advance. 	Sunday, May 21, 12:00 noon. SUNDAY BRUNCH -- the Emerald Coast- Sunrise. How about a return visit to the Grand-daddy award winning buffet that started it all. Now they are featuring all your favorite Sunday brunch specials, like Eggs Benedict, cooked-to-order omelets and eggs, buttermilk pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon and hash browns. All of this in addition to the regular Asian buffet served every day with too many items to mention. 	Sunday, May 21. Hot Air Balloon in the Everglades. - Free float, about 2-3 hours in the air. Weird and amazing, but oh so wonderful. Cost is approximately $200.00 per person. Contact Jordan London, 954-961-8286.

	Friday-Sunday, May 26-28. WE GO TO THE DRY TORTUGAS, where Fort Jefferson is, one of the largest coastal forts built by the U.S. Army when we thought Britain would invade us just before and then after the War of 1812 (do I hear the Lone Ranger out there?). We'll camp two nights on that key and then come home Sunday morning. Saturday night dinner is provided as part of the deal. Cost for outing: Members, $20.00; non-Members, $24.00. HOWEVER, cost of ferry is $160.00 per person, and only 6 people are taken out or brought back each day.
