Mensa events are open to all Mensans, their spouses, children and guests. Who may or may not attend a private home is at the host's discretion. Hosts: Please mention any special concerns about your location, such as smoking restrictions, limited access for the handicapped, or presence of pets. Guests: If you have any special needs or restrictions, please check with your host before attending an event.

Notice! Our group has merged its calendar with the one from the Broward group and some events from Miami. The icon in the rightmost column of the event indicates what group(s) are hosting that activity (B for Broward, M for Miami, P for Palm Beach County). See the legends at the bottom of this page for an explanation of other icons that may appear in this column. Most phone numbers for Broward events will be area code 954, for Miami, 305.

We meet at 5:30 p.m. since there are some good games early, but if you can't make it early, come when you can. Pretty good food, very good trivia. Smoking where permitted.

Sunday, March 13. CANOE OR KAYAK THE TURNER RIVER, from Everglades City at the foot of State Road 29 off the Tamiami Trail. We leave from the Outfitter in Everglades City, a Bed and Breakfast (stay overnight Saturday if you wish) where we rent our boats. They transport the boats for us to the put-in point. The Turner River has some deliciously dense mangrove tunnels where the sun is almost totally blotted out and ancient Indian mounds and artifacts along the way. Only thing it doesn't have is toilet facilities along the way. We will car-pool for those who wish from Broward. Figure about 4 hours on the water. $15.00 for the Outfitter to cart your own boat, $30.00 Members $35.00 Non- Members for single kayak, $20.00 Members and $25.00 Non-Members per person for tandem kayak. Saturday, March 26. Visit Vizcaya and bicycle in Coral Gables. We will go to Vizcaya and tour this magnificent mansion imported piece by piece from Europe. If you haven't been there, you're in for a treat. After that, BYO lunch and then a quick tour of Coral Gables by bicycle. This is a beautiful, invented city, and well worth seeing on a two to three hour tour. The Venetian Pool, Old Water Tower, Alhambra Gardens, are must-sees. We will car-pool from Broward at the Bass Pro/Outdoor World. Cost is direct to Vizcaya: Adults $12.00, kids 5-12 $6.00, kids under 5 free. Sunday, March 27, 12:00 pm. SUNDAY BRUNCH at Too Jayıs Deli in Plantation, 11:00 am. This charming location, at the Fountains in Plantation, is more of a restaurant than a deli. The scrumptious deserts, salads and deli meats are on display, but we will take advantage of the friendly service and ample seating. Starters, salads, wraps, sandwiches, melts, burgers, classic combinations, fish, chicken and entrees. Thereıs something here for everyone and at such reasonable prices. The average cost of most menu items is about $7.00. That makes this an unbeatable combination, good food, friends, fun and it doesnıt cost too much at Too Jayıs. Saturday-Sunday, April 2-3. CANOE/KAYAK AND CAMP OVERNIGHT AT FISH EATING CREEK, about 1/2 hour above Clewiston on Route U.S. 27. We'll rent our boats there, take our tents, stoves, etc., on board, and paddle about 7 miles upstream to our camping site. Make camp, prepare dinner, watch the animal life. Life is good. Next morning, break camp, paddle downstream with the current. Life is better. We have tents, mattresses, sleeping bags you can borrow. Based on the cost of canoes or kayaks: Cost $45.00 per Member for canoe; $54.00 per Member for kayak (single or double). $56.00 per Non-Member for canoe, $67.00 per Non-member for kayak (single or double).
